Never thought to check for 3rd party battery installed & not charging. (always ran w/ AC adapter). 01. It's refusing to flash the BIOS because the laptop is running from battery power. Make sure you have a copy of this BIOS someplace other than your laptop and that you can access the internet with this other computer. You should be able to recover the BIOS using the CRISIS program and a 2 or less GB flash drive.
