So I'll set out the solution below for those who like me might have missed it.The thing I did which I'm pretty sure is the solution was to change the drive QT had played files on various removable USB media. Disconnecting or turning it off elminates the problem.But in this case the solution is beyond my ken. Awesome fix. I really wanted to try the solution posted, but I was afriad of the mess I might make. (not too savvy or lucky sometimes). I tried changing the external Disk Drive letters, but Vista would not display the drives in Manager. Yükleniyor... Great job. They all are labeled "UMH-H HS-MS USB." The fix was to command each of the devices to be removed / unmounted / uninstalled and then to restart the computer. The entire device is recognized by the OS as a single drive letter.
