Using the windows partition mgr does not help. If possible include this as a message with in a patch in Windows update and there by helping people who keep trying the same down the line. Meaning that the free space is not marked as unallocated. Backup files you need first!

We want a nice, manageable C: drive for imaging, about 75 - 80GB, but 100 or 125 would do. In that way, MFT will be moved and Vista won't tell you that you don't have space to shrink. Please help. Shrink Disk Coupling You guys did a great job in bringing this website.
Thanks! Various attempts with several disk partitioning programs, some of which touted their ability to relocate all system files, succeeded in creating only more frustration. Any one of the commercial utilities will allow you to move the partition, or the gparted live cd should also work. In my example, I only have 6217 MB available for shrinking.
