It seems at some point someone decided that the application is not working correctly and an error was generated to have the problem fixed. Event Id 3013 Windows Search Service I don't agree with ignoring these errors. We've found that it's better to shut this service down on our servers.

Only Remote Access depends on it, so as long as you don't search from remote access everything is fine.   Fan Wednesday, December 05, 2007 3:34 AM 0 Sign in to RE: Event ID 3013 - WSS - Gatherer repeatedly brokenhalo (IS/IT--Management) (OP) 25 Nov 09 11:08 Yes, I seen that post too and doesn't pertain to me at all... Solved Is there a reason to have Windows Desktop Search running on a server? For generic information about this error see the link for Error code 0x8007001f. Respectfully Balder By editing the shares in the indexer list i managed to have no more errors reported in my case, which is not possible for everyone i suppose Proposed as Want to Advertise Here?

A couple of examples are included below. When we were running WDS 3.0 on our File Server, we would get hundreds if not thousands of these a day. But search isn't a big aspect of that, so I guess it's not an important feature for us.And I swear my server isn't balancing storage half as much since switching thie I'm not getting these on my 2 other generic servers running the same Windows 2003 64 bit updated server installations.

That was two supervisors and at least one set of hardware ago. Great image microsoft is giving to its clients... All of the devices work and my log are clean except for this... Fix the errors and try the update again.
