Windows Vista Itunes Dep Error


I didn't have my ipod plugged in or anything like that. I've tried adding it to the exempt list, but it doesn't work. I am suspecting a service pack started it all. I followed the route given by the "crash message" but I want it off my machine. his comment is here

PS: Windows 'contact us' screen froze leaving me unable to use the computer until still another reboot. I have to use the command prompt to disable this DEP. Itunes Data Execution Prevention Fix

Before that I had never even heard of Data Execution Prevention (DEP). Frankly, I want this thing GONE! I do not need Windows to come in and slow down my computer and stop access to websites in order to duplicate things that were already working well. It said there was an update, dowloaded - windows D.E.P. (Vista 32 bit) closed iTunes because it doesn't like the way iTunes behaves.

  • So, a much better way to get any legitimate program causing DEP errors to work again is to add that program to the exception list.

When I try to open iTunes, it will stop immediately as a result of Data Prevention Execution (DEP). I now have 7 and 8.1 . This didn't work for me. It don't matter either way if I get it back.

I've tried setting it to "only essential Windows programs and services" (that was the default - when the problem began), and I've tried with exceptions for: defrag.exe, dfrgntfs.exe, dfrgfat.exe, dfrg.msc, and DEP "must be turned on for itunes to run" so it cannot be turned off (not an option).

I have tried going into the download file and adding the programs from there to the list but DEP will not recognize it. Change the word "optin" to AlwaysOff, then click file, choose save, close the notepad file then click ok to close all open windows and reboot the computer. I hope Microsoft will see this -- with each Windows update I hope it will be fixed. weblink template.

L Meeker September 9, 2009 7:25 PM Same problem -- DEP is blocking internet explorer even when it is listed as an exception. You'll see a line Where it says: "noexecute=optin".
