Windows Vista just won't install updates This post has been flagged and will be reviewed by our staff. Not all these updates are for Vista, some are more advanced and are for Win7 or 64 bit. If you have more than one Antivirus program, uninstall one. That was 2 years ago, and the Dell machine finally just QUIT (I'd gotten a Blue Screen almost every day, sometimes several times a day).

Itunes Install Error I finally made it work after I used the troupeshooter to identify my error number which was 0x80070005.

Now I've got W7 and all is peaceful and working once again! Although a couple of other updates (Silverlight etc) suceeded.

Once in safe mode, just paste the file into the servicing folder, restart in normal mode and then update away. Now what?? This just as Microsoft are trying to get everybody to upgrade to Windows 10, could be a coincidence but personally I don't think so. Install the latest Microsoft Windows updates.
Again ensure that this is set to automatic and start it.Nb. It would pop up the updates are ready, click here to download and install but would then apparently never complete the download. Any small amount would be appreciated. Neither of them seems to be able to deal with the hotfixes accumulated since then.

Run Microsoft Fix It tool and press “Accept”. 3. Vista wouldn't download updates for me, wouldn't let my printer use its full range of features and wouldn't respond even when I asked it nicely. As a final solution, I have installed and processed "combofix" app, as suggested by the creator of this tutorial in one of the comments, but again without success. Even with 200 plus security updates since SP1 it should not take more than about fifteen minutes to compute which patches and updates are missing.
If you haveWindows Vistaor later: Choose "Run as administrator." If you haveWindows XP: Choose Open.
